Our Concierge Physical Therapy and Wellness services are designed to optimize outcomes more efficiently while giving our clients more control over their Rehab and Wellness needs. Treatments are always one-on-one and delivered by a Doctor of Physical Therapy. "Hands-on" techniques are emphasized so we can enhance recovery better than with exercises alone. We believe in empowering patients by expanding treatment options beyond what insurance would cover and by educating them specifically about what they can do to further improve their physical function, relieve pain, and prevent future injury. With our full attention and advanced training, patients typically recover faster and with fewer visits. Whether you want to improve your golf swing, run a marathon, or play with your grandkids, we are here to help make your goals a reality.
Orthopedic Rehab is one of our specialties and you can expect skilled, hands-on care at each visit to help relieve pain and improve mobility. We have extensive training in manual therapy, including many joint and soft tissue mobilization techniques. Other approaches to help relieve pain and restore mobility include Dry Needling, Infrared LED Light Therapy, Kinesiotaping, Cupping and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). Customized therapeutic exercise is included and we are happy to incorporate aquatic therapy if you have a pool. So, you need rehab after surgery, suffer from joint pain, tension type headaches or other musculoskeletal conditions, we can help!
Do you feel dizzy when you change positions? Are you off balance when you turn your head? Are you afraid of falling? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you may benefit from Vestibular Rehab and/or Fall Prevention interventions. Vestibular conditions can be very debilitating and have a profound effect on your quality of your life. Fortunately, an abundance of evidence and years of our experience have proven that Vestibular Rehab is effective in improving symptoms of conditions including vestibular hypofunction, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), post concussion syndrome, dizziness with tension type headaches and many others. Patients often experience fewer symptoms, better balance, and return to activities they love faster than expected!
Want to optimize your golf game or prevent an injury related to your swing? Time to sign up for a TPI Medical Golf Evaluation.
What is a TPI Evaluation?
The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is the world's leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the body functions in relation to the golf swing. They do not believe there is only one way to swing a golf club. They believe their is one efficient way for every player to swing and it is based on what the player can physically do. The TPI medical evaluation is specifically designed to help golfers maximize efficiency in their golf swing as well as prevent potential injuries. Instead of analyzing your swing itself (we leave that to your golf pro!), we look at the components of your body and what they need to do in order to swing the club efficiently and, most importantly, without causing pain or injury. During the evaluation, your therapist will get a detailed medical history and a firm understanding of your goals. Then you will be taken through a serious of 16 movements that assess your mobility stability, and overall function in different segments of your body. After this analysis we will review the areas that need improvement and prescribe specific exercises to address these limitations. Your therapist will recommend a Plan of Care based on your assessment to best enable you to reach your goals on the golf course. In some cases, we may recommend follow up physical therapy treatment where we will include "hands-on" techniques in addition to exercise and possibly other interventions such as infrared LED light therapy or dry needling.
How is this different from what I do with my golf pro?
A golf professional analyzes your swing characteristics and gives you strategies to improve your swing efficiency. A video of your swing may be used to gain further insight. As medical professionals we focus on optimizing the body and joint mechanics needed for each stage in your swing. Many golf professionals are also TPI trained in their specialty so we can work together to help you achieve your goals on the course.
Your healthcare journey does not have to end with physical therapy! Our customized Wellness services are a great way to promote or maintain physical fitness and mobility. After being discharged from formal therapy, our clients may elect to continue working with their physical therapist to optimize fitness and prevent injury as they return to the physical activities they enjoy. We also accept other clients who were not patients as long as they consent to a basic evaluation so we can assess safety and make a plan to help you reach your Wellness goals. These plans are customized so we can meet your needs. So if you want periodic "check-ups", postural correction services, to maximize performance related function or other interventions, we can help!
Dry needling is a technique used by certified healthcare providers to relieve pain and movement restrictions associated with myofascial trigger points. Trigger points are tight, tender areas that develop in your muscles. They are highly sensitive and can refer pain to other parts of your body. When dry needling is applied to your muscles, it can reduce tightness, restore normal blood flow, and significantly reduce or eliminate local and referred pain. Solid needles that don’t contain any medication are used. Dry Needling is typically part of a larger pain management plan that includes exercise, postural correction, and other interventions to address the underlying issues that caused trigger points to develop.

It is safe, UV-free, painless and requires no down time. Whether you are looking to relieve pain from a chronic condition or to optimize healing of a recent injury, our LED infrared light therapy device could be a great addition to your rehab plan.
Hi, I'm Dr. Elizabeth Burke, PT, but you can call me Beth. Since I started practicing physical therapy in 2006, there have been many changes in healthcare that are adversely affecting the delivery of physical therapy services. This is what inspired me to start Focus Physical Therapy. I want to empower you to take control of your own healthcare so you can ultimately focus on what matters most to YOU! With more options you can feel better, move better, and do all the activities you love. Before I go more into what inspired that, let me share a little bit about myself.
I graduated from James Madison University and then completed my Doctor of Physical Therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University. I spent eight years working in Richmond, VA, and several of those years I was a Clinical Director at an outpatient physical therapy clinic, primarily treating orthopedic conditions. During my time there, I noticed a connection between patients who had prolonged mobility limitations and an impaired vestibular system, adversely affecting their spacial awareness and balance. I developed a Fall Prevention and Vestibular Rehab program and began incorporating these techniques to improve my patients' stability and quality of life. In 2014, I moved to Arizona and continue to care for patients with orthopedic needs, vestibular conditions, and integrating the two specialties when needed.
So why Focus Physical Therapy? I want to put the focus on you – not your insurance. My business model is not traditional, which allows me to give you better care. With visits dedicated to applying advanced training and 1-1 treatment without insurance limitations, your care and outcomes are optimized. Your care is completely focused on you and not influenced by the direction of a third-party payer. This allows the delivery of healthcare in the purest sense to optimize outcomes and help you achieve YOUR goals.
Every healthcare business makes choices about cost, quality and access. The traditional route may be just fine for your needs, and I know many talented therapists that work in this environment. However, if you want comprehensive, 1-1 care without insurance restrictions, we are here to support you. I look forward to empowering you on your journey to better health!
It all begins with a call. We want to address any questions you have and schedule your initial evaluation. Your first visit will include a thorough evaluation so we can determine what is restricting your function or causing pain. An important part of this visit is to understand YOUR goals and determine the treatment plan that will set you up for success. Treatment also begins at your first visit. Most visits will be 60 minutes unless you elect for longer sessions or want to include Infrared LED treatments for an additional cost. Although there is an emphasis on "hands-on" care, you will also be given therapeutic exercises appropriate for your diagnosis and you will get a home exercise program that you can do on your own to expedite your progress.
No. In Arizona a prescription is not required to start physical therapy. However, we believe communicating with your healthcare team is important! At your first visit we will establish which, if any, of your healthcare providers you would like us to send information to regarding your physical therapy findings and progress. Also, we will gladly take any prescription that you have and keep your referring physician or healthcare practitioner informed. Also, if you have traditional Medicare, your physician will receive a Plan of Care based on your therapy evaluation.
We are considered “out of network” with insurance companies other than Medicare (Part B) and we believe this is a great thing. With services dedicated to one on one treatment, we are able to give you our full attention and your care is not influenced by the direction of a third-party payer. This allows us to deliver healthcare in the purest sense so we can optimize outcomes and help you achieve your goals. At your request, we are happy to provide you with documentation that you can file on your own for possible reimbursement of out of network benefits through your insurance company. However, we cannot guarantee any reimbursement. We believe in being as transparent as possible regarding patient care and cost. If you are a Medicare Part B beneficiary and I can provide a service or treatment that may help you reach your goals, I will inform you of it's benefits, even if it’s not a covered service through your insurance. Although there may be an additional cost, you get to decide if it's something you want, not the insurance company.
In order to maintain competitive rates for one hour of personal dedicated service, we choose not to be contracted with insurance companies other than Medicare (Part B). If you have Medicare, billing rules are the same as they would be at a busy outpatient clinic. For all Self-Pay patients, we determine which program will best meet your goals at the end of the first visit. It is requested that payments are made in full at the time of service. If your insurance has out-of-network benefits, you will be given the necessary documents for partial reimbursement.
